音乐的历史 faculty member Edgardo Salinas, born in Argentina, focuses in his research on early German Romanticism and Beethoven’s music in the context of the material conditions reshaping everyday life around 1800. Other research interests include John Cage’s music and the aesthetics of indeterminacy; music and critical theory (with a focus on T.W. Adorno and Walter Benjamin); and the political history of art and popular music in South America. From 2010 to 2013, Salinas was a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow/Lecturer in 音乐 at the Columbia Society of Fellows in the Humanities. He teaches music history at Columbia University. Salinas received his doctoral degree in historical musicology from Columbia University. He received his master’s degrees in piano performance and music history from Bowling Green State University. His licenciatura in piano performance is from Universidad Nacional de Rosario. Salinas has been a Juilliard faculty member since 2015.
